Right Learning and Digital Health – Feb 18

  • Right & left brain balance in brain wiring & learning
  • Prevention & Reversal of addiction to cartoons, digital games & other addictive behaviors in childhood

Dr Lalith Mendis is the Founder Director of the Empathic Learning Centre, Colombo. He had researched the effects of digital overuse on children & youth and developed empathis therapies to reverse inattention, impulsitiviy & hyperactivity.

Dr Mendis hosts the monthly Digital Forum at his centre and has delivered lectures and conducted seminars on this theme in leading schools & corporates in Colombo. Author of five books on the topic, his books, “Right Learning & Recovering Childhood”, “Children Our Heritage & Let the Children Come to Me” are in their second print. His latest book, “Parenting Heart & Brain – in an age of digital dominaion” has a preface from the former Dean of the Medical faculty of Colombo. He wrote, “I have been seeing children affected by too much cartoon abuse. This is not about ADHD but normal children with agitation & hyperactivity & inattention in studies”.

The digital age is now our children’s world. Parents and children teachers need to be knowledgeable and ready to warn of the danger, addictiveness as well as encourage the good. Is our child overstimulated? What can we do to prepare our children not to fall into the digital traps that is taking away their time and attention? Is it time for a digital detox? Our children are living most of their lives in the digital age. Parenting and teaching children in the digital age can be difficult, to say the least. Then, this is for you.  – Angel Yap
